We incubate new television propositions for niche market segments, which would struggle to start up on a dedicated channel. We operate in two modes - firstly, so that organisations can communicate directly with those with whom they are interacting; and secondly allowing would-be broadcasters to "start small", by having regularly-scheduled programmes in "MicroChannels", which they control.
Our broadcast licences permit us to allow public bodies and communities to have editorial control over their sponsored programmes, so they are able to communicate properly with their target audiences, rather than be subject to the sound-biting or headlining with which mass-audience channels typically treat public information.
As a secondary and complementary activity, we are helping start-up TV operations launch, by providing them slices of our schedule to facilitate proving their concepts and getting on air quickly, at markedly lower costs than would be required for a full-blown broadcast TV channel. These Microchannels can be as small as 30 minutes per week, growing as fast as their business development allows. You will see several examples - entertaining as well as informative - on the schedules and below.
Although BSkyB has "closed" the launch list, we are also in a position to facilitate new launches on the Sky EPG, or to help in the transfer of EPG slots between organisations.
See examples of some of our successful incubations and start-ups below.
